A History of St. Vincent's

at Carlisle Place, London

I received an Email from Norman Taylor with information on the above, which was pointed out to him by Tony Brady.

This is an amazing and most interesting story for those many Boys and Girls, as we were then, who were at one time at the Crusade of Rescue Homes.  Many of these went on to Blaisdon buy many did not.  I believe the story will be of great interest to all such boys and girls.  I found it most riveting.  This is also a potted history of what Central London was like in those early days.

To read the story, just click on the following link.

http://www.writesofpassage.org.uk/pastissues/history_1.pdf   (A large file, please be patient!)

This is a long story, as you might expect, and runs to 32 pages.  This is only Section One of what I believe will be three, and when I get the other sections I will add them, as this is an important part, for some of us, of our personal heritage.   If you have a printer that does duplex printing (automatically print on both sides of each sheet) it would be much easier to read it, and I suggest keep a copy.

Happy Reading,

John Ward  (Other sections to come, I hope.)
