Peter Thomas - Blaisdon Hall

04 October 1950-10 April 1953

We have another contribution to our Personal Profiles section from Peter Thomas, who has just recently made contact again. Peter is the Tenor Horn player, wearing spectacles, in the photo below.   Not sure we have names for his fellow bandsmen in the photo but would be glad to add them, if we can get them.

“I was at Blaisdon Hall during 1950 to 1953.  I left Blaisdon in 1953 to go to a Hostel in Isleworth.

At the end of 1955, like so many of us, I was conscripted for National Service into The Royal Artillery.  I served in Cyprus and was demobbed in 1957.

After three years in Civvy Street, I re-enlisted into the Royal Air Force and remained in the RAF until 1975.

On demobilisation from the RAF I became a Warehouse Manager in a Plastics Mouldings company, where I stayed until retirement in 2001.

I got married at the age of forty, but sadly my wife recently passed away.

I mailed a copy of the above photo to an Old Boy I met when I was at Bodmin.  This boy was sent to Australia and he went to Bindon Boys Town in Perth, Western Australia, at the same time as I was sent to Blaisdon Hall.”

Peter you clearly needed to live in a community, like so many other Blaisdon Old Boys.  It is great that you have made contact with the Blaisdon Association and you can be assured of a warm welcome at any of the Reunions you are able to attend.

Thanks for your brief history of life after Blaisdon Hall.
