Pat Timlin (BIG PAT)
The following Tribute to Big Pat was read at the funeral service by Charles Springett, Blaisdon President, on behalf of Pat McKenna, who sadly was unable to attend.
We were most grateful that Father Aidan Murray SDB was able to be part of the funeral service for Big Pat and feel sure that this will have been a great consolation to Pat's family and close friends. "Thank you Father Aidan." If anyone has a good photo of Big Pat and can Email it to me I would appreciate it and I will add it to this tribute page
08 March 2009 I called Pat at home this afternoon but was unable to speak with him. His friend who answered the call said that Pat was failing fast and that his family were with him. Please redouble your prayers for Pat and those who are dear to him at the most difficult time. 07 March 2009 Your prayers and thought are sought for Big Pat and John Plevey who is in hospital again. Pat is at home and far from well. His son and daughter have now come up to be with Pat at his home. John Plevey's son called Pat Young to say his Dad was in hospital and that he didn't think John would make it to our Summer Reunion. 04 March 2009 Big Pat (Timlin) - Update 29 February 2009 Charlie called last evening to let me know that after days trying to get news of Pat he has learned that Pat was discharged last Monday. Then a good friend had collected Pat from hospital and taken Pat to his own home. Apparently Pat is far from well but we assume he is glad to be at home. Please keep Pat in your kind prayers as he is clearly still in need of them. Pat's home Tele number is 01594 542842, but if you call please be aware that he may not be feeling very strong.
17 February 2009 Charlie Springett has just called me with an update on Big Pat. Charlie, Pat Young and Norman Taylor visited Big Pat in hospital today. Charlie was pleased to find Pat up and walking about. Pat was delighted to receive his visitors and wished to thank all those who had sent cards and good wishes/prayers, for which he was most grateful. There was a consultancy meeting of the Doctors, etc. today which was to determine if they could discharge Pat with a full care support package. Pat is hoping that he might find out tomorrow if this will be possible, for which he is hoping. Please continues to keep Pat in you thoughts and prayers, that a discharge might be possible in a few days time and that Pat will gain the extra time we all wish for him. 15 February 2009 Better news on Big Pat. Thanks to your prayers Big Pay has undergone the procedure that we were hoping he would and a message in our Guestbook from Annabelle tells us he in considerably better and would be happy to receive calls and may be able to get home soon. Please keep up the prayer for Big Pat who is not yet out of the water, as they say. 06 February 2009 Charlie, our President, was able after much effort to get through to talk with Big Pat in hospital. He found Big Pat to be a little bemused and assumed he must be under strong sedation. Charlie has established the following details of how to make contact with our long time friend. He is in Gloucester Royal Hospital in Ward 5A. The Hospital Tel number is 0845 4222222. Pat has a mobile by his bed number 0706 9103086. Pat seems quite happy to receive calls but he might take time to register who you are that is calling. When asked how long he will be there he replied "They've given me 10 days". Not to sure what he meant by this. Visiting Hours fro those who are near : 1500 -1600 and 1830 - 2030 Clearly Big Pat is in real need of our fervent prayers, please do not fail him.. ****************************************************************************8 05 February 2009 Update on Big Pat: I had a chat this evening with Michael McKenna who had been trying to get in touch with me by phone. This has been difficult as my phone is a bit temperamental.. However he has been keen for me to post news about Big Pat's situation. He has been seriously ill suffering from pancreatic cancer. He was given a short time-span to live but the news has been better since they were able to relieve his pain. He is now unwell again and is awaiting an urgent operation to deal with the cancer. Please Keep Big Pat in your prayers that he soon receives the operation and that the prognosis will then be much better. I'll keep you posted as I get more information..
16 January 2009 Pat Timilin - Father Sean has just let me know that Big Pat, known to so many of us from his regular attendances at our Reunions, has not been well for some time now. I understand from Len Carter that Big Pat is suffering from Pancreatic cancer. Father Sean requests that we remember Pat in our prayers. As I get more information I will record it here.
