Message: Congrats John. I am delighted to join in the well deserved compliments being paid to you. Blaisdon did so much for so many of us and it is great to have this facilty to place on record our heartfelt gratitude for the care and training we received from the Salesian Fathers. Many of us had no fathers who took care of us but thanks to St. John Bosco we had superb Fathers in lieu.

Message: John Ward - Hello! A correction to the Alladin photo: Peter "Fatty" "Bunter"etc. should be spelt Caine. His brother is also in the same photo. Both boys came from Manchester - The Salford Children's Society being the link. Peter excelled at all sports: he was Captain of More House in his prime. He had a fine tenor voice and was invariably in great humour: he never resented his nicknames. He was very protective of his brother who tended to weep easily if things were not going his way. The production title Alladin is confusing as the show was a conflation of Alladin with The Mikado.Peter's character was Poo-Bah. Terry Chaplin was the Alled Jones de nos jours. He had the most beautiful singing voice he is particularly femininely fetching here; Terry's tour de force in the production was "Uvulla Oh Uvulla" which is actually from Offenbach's Orheus in the Underworld just to add to the confused/clever production values. Father Connolly and Father Frank Rodgers ( who arranged all the music & liberetti) were extremely talented in adapting contemporary songs to fit traditional productions such as this one. Peter Caine was also a a tuba, euphonium, english horn and cornette player. He was also The Sergeant in the Blaisdon Hall Army Cadet Troop. Tony Brady.

Message: One thing I will always be eternally grateful to Blaisdon for... A wholesome diet of fresh vegetables, fruit, fish, meats and an abundance of country air and outdoor pursuits and exercise. This, in no doubt has given me a good start in life - a healthy platform in which to work from and enabling me to enjoy today a full active and fulfilling life without the hindrance of allergies or major illness. When you think of many of the young kids today in this country, plagued with illnesses like obesity, diabetus, asthma, which in many cases attributed to bad diet, malnourishment & chemically enhanced junk food. Their young lives almost spent before they reach 30yrs. At Blaisdon, we were chomping organic produce before the green party discovered such a word existed! If nothing else Blaisdon has given me, it has at least given me that. And I thank God for that..

Message: What a good idea the Personal Profile would be. Past pupils could look at them, and follow their lives, careers, and if they remembered the past pupil, they would have a phone number,or address, or email address, to get in contact with. We could describe our work, hobbies, service career ect, also family. I wonder if there are any Old Boys in the Devon/Cornwall area ? Gordon Robertson. Blaisdon 1956/57 Fisher House.

Message: From Terry O'Neill Blaisdon 1950/53 It's good to see some more names coming onto John Wards Web site and as time goes by I'm sure many more will start to use it. It would be great to hear from old boys from the latter years, and to hear what Blaisdon ment to them. If you know of anyone who hasn't got computers and would like to make contact, please get in touch with Charlie Springett or Fr. Sean, so that we can put you on the Mailing list.

Message: Hi everyone, It is great to see the contacts in the Guestbook. We know that not everyone has a computer at home, but hopefully still keep in contact by post. One letter just received was from Michael Barsley 46/48 who writes; I have not kept up with modern technology and at the age of 74 does not intend to do so, but enjoy's receiving and reading the Newsletters, and requests that we still send them to him by post in order to be able to keep up with the Blaisdon news, and of his old friends. This is the very responce we like to receive. Thanks Michael, thanks also to Tony Brady and Stephen Neal it all helps to make the website and the Guestbook so worthwhile. C.W.S.

Message: Hi, all... Here's another B.O.B 1959-1963 that's become aware of this new site. I have now bookmarked this site on my favourite's list. I am confident that the blaisdonbrotherhood website has massive potential and not to leave out the global implications that could be had by direct communication. At last, blaisdon old boys has a forum in tune with this modern society.

Message: Terry O'Neil - Hello! I have been scanning the Blaisdon Staff Gallery and compliment you heartily on your preparatory work. I can put quite a few names to faces and will do this in due course. As I study the photos I am overwhelmed with a profound sense of sorrow that so many of the 1950' vintage Priests and Lay Brothers have died. Yet it is with great gratititude and pride in having known them that I find some consolation and thank God that I knew them and was influenced by their example. They are surely all in the Great Heart of Christ. This I truly believe. One day we will play again with them the football games and cricket matches and walk with them along endless Monk's Walks in that place which awaits us all and where all who enter are once again made perfect. Requiescat In Pace. Tony Brady.

Message: Thanks Terry for your comments and info of the weekend meetup in Blaisdon. It was great once again to see many of the old Boys, families and the locals who make us so welcome. I believe that everyone enjoyed seeing their old friends and being together again as none of us know what is round the bend in our life, sowe make the most of it while we can. What makes the day and the weekend is the boys and their families that travel so far to turn up and be there, and make it so special, without them it would nothing. I hope that many more will join us at our next reunion in August. Best wishes to you all.

Message: Hi everyone What a great weekend we had on the 21/22/23. Thanks Charlie, and John Ward for making it such a great success. The film show on the Sunday showing the Blaisdon Old Boys Web Site was great. Lets hope that it won't be too long before many old boys will log on. John Faulkner and partner met up with us at the Kingshead for a drink, and asked to be remembered to all their Blaisdon friends. They that they would like to be mentioned in the Newsletter sometime, the only way I'm afraid is to write to me with a bit of news or something. Great to see you both, Best wishes. Looking to seeing many more at the August Bank holiday, I'v already booked in. Best wishes, Terry.

Message: I was at Blaisdon 1953-57 and when possible I used to visit the school and reunions. Being in the Army I was not a regular visitor, but I used to enjoy chatting to the boys and particularly remember: Both the MURRAY brothers around 1970. Simon SMITH around 1981-85 who made his name being the first to get an A level (Art). Lee FOWLEY around 87 – 90 whom I met several times. I gather from the Old Boys association that Murray/Smith/Fowley are no longer in contact. If however they read this I would be pleased to learn how their respective careers developed. derry.maher1@btopenworld.com

Message: Scanning through the website pictures of Blaisdon re-unions it was heartwarming to see a photo of Johnie Dunbar and his wife Christine. Johnie always gave the visiting OB.s an enthusiastic welcome at The Red Hart. A great stockman and tractor driver when he worked on Stud Farm indeed, an all rounder in all the farming skills. He was well known also in The Forest of Dean for his football prowess. A thrusting and fearless centre forward; two footed and an accurate header of the ball. A Burnley supporter. He was the star player for Pope's Hill and turned out for The Oratory Team and Longhope. Were it not for the strong pull of Blaisdon he would have made it into the professional level. He trialled for Gloucester City and Wigan United. A great colleague and oft remembered friend. He served in Cyprus with the Army and also worked down the Welsh coal mines nera Wrexham when he left Stud Farm. Later he returned to Blaisdon village, married and settled there. He still lives locally I believe - somewhere close to Westbury on Severn. A great bloke and fine example to the younger boys at Blaisdon Hall.
