                                          Norman Taylor

10 January 2012  News of an Older Old Boy  I learned, from Norman Taylor, that he and Eric Nutcher had made contact with a longtime ago Enfield and Blaisdon Old Boy, Bernard Learoyd.  Bernard was on the Farm, as were Norman and Eric.  Bernard was interested to hear of the Blaisdon Recollections book.  Norman has kindly purchased a copy and is sending this to Bernard.  I thought some other of our Old Boys might like to hear of this news of one of our oldest, who has just been in touch.  I know the farmers are a special sub-family of our great Blaisdon Family.  After Norman's purchase this leaves me with just 4 copies of our Blaisdon Book.

04 January 2012  Update No. 4 on Norman Taylor  I was chatting to Norman this evening and obtained an update on his bladder treatments.  Norman had been expecting a report for some weeks of a scan he had .  Earlier when we were chatting, I suggested that no news can mean good news, so he did not chase up anything, so as to get past Christmas and New Year on this basis.  He has now received an appointment for 01 February2012.  This caused Norman to telephone his Consultants office and discovered that he should have received an appointment some time ago.  To give them their due the Secretary called back and admitted the letter had not been posted out.  The other bit of good news was that the scan showed everything as quite normal and not causing any need for concern that the earlier appointment did not occur and that all is OK until his new appointment on 01FE2012.  Norman is feeling very well so coupled with the news just established he is very happy.  We await the outcome of the next appointment.

26 October 2011  Update No. 3 on Norman Taylor  Normal has just called me to le me know his doctor called him to let him know his blood test results are in and the hospital Consultant need to see him.  The news was that he was anemic and that they intend to give him a blood transfusion.  The good news is that now Norman will be off Chemotherapy until close to or perhaps after Christmas.  Apart form some breathlessness Norman feels fine.  The Consultant told Norman that the transfusion will deal with this problem.

Update No. 2 on Norman Taylor  Very Good News: Norman called me after getting home from seeing his Consultant, having undergone a soewhat gruellign Chemotherapy regime for the last few months.  The goon news is that the Consultant said he was delighted with the results and confirmed the tumour had shrank.  The better news for Norman is that has is now off the Chemo for at least the next six weeks, when he will have another scan and Consultancy meeting.  Norman and Sylvia are grateful for all the kind thoughts and prayers.  Let's pray that in six weeks the news remains good.

20 June 2011  Norman Taylor   I have been kept regularly updated by Norman on his problems with bladder cancer.  However at his request I have not created News on our website.  Now that the cat is out of the bag Norman agrees that I may now do so.  Essentially Norman has undergone some painful treatments on his bladder cancer.  These treatments have all been to try to save removal of the bladder, which so far has been the effect.  Now after his latest visit to his Consultant the plan is for Norman to undergo some Chemotherapy sessions to try to shrink the tumour.  These will take place over the coming months.   I'll keep you updated as Norman gives me news of his progress   Like Pat Young, Norman is angling to be able to get to our Summer reunion.

Please keep Norman and his family in your thoughts and prayers during this worrying time.

26 July 2010 Update 12 on Norman Taylor  Norman called me earlier to let me know the results of his follow up visit today with his Consultant.  Sadly the news is not what Norman hoped for.  As a result of the histology it was found that there were still cancer cells found in the biopsy.  Norman must now go into hospital for a further three occasions to repeat the treatments he already had and await the outcome of these.  Thereafter will have to await further analysis, before any further diagnosis is made.  Norman is bearing up stoically, but please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers that these further treatments will bring about a better result.

22 June 2010  Update No. 10 on Norman Taylor who has just called me.  He ahs been undergoing weekly treatment every Monday for the last six weeks or so.  On Friday this week he has to go to hospital for a pre-med check up and then the following Friday for an internal investigative procedure to determine if the treatment has or is dealing with the tumour..  Please keep Norman and his family in your thoughts and prayers that Friday week brings the news that he is hoping for.  _______________________________________________________________________________________

11 May 2010  Update 9 on Norman Taylor  Norman had his first sequence of the new treatment he is to undergo to deal with his cancer.  He had this yesterday and it has turned out to be an injection of 80 ml of a substance that should prevent some other nasties.  Norman will have to go for this treatment every Monday for the next six weeks.  Norman seems relaxed that at least he does not need to have Chemotherapy.  Please keep Norman in your thoughts and prayers that this is it!

"Hi Everyone We would like to thank you all for your support and prayers during the past three months. Having your support has hepled us get through a very difficult time. Sylvia and Norman Taylor"

28 April 2010  Update No 7 on Norman Taylor:  Norman saw his Consultant yesterday and learned that after further Case discussion involving external consultants he will no longer be receiving Radiotherapy.  However he will be receiving a different approach to eradicate the cancer, whereby it is hoped that he will not be need external accoutrements.  Please Keep Norman in you prayers.

16 April 2010  Update No 6 on Norman Taylor  I have just spoken with Norman who I knew had been called back to hospital after having extra scans both Catscan and Nuclear scan.  Norman has now been told that, following these extra scans, their earlier diagnosis, that the tumor was superfluous, they now know that it has penetrated some muscle of the bladder and that he will need to have some Radiotherapy to deal with some nodes detected.   His Consultant is away for two weeks but is planning to deal with this as soon as he gets back.  Please keep Norman and Sylvia in your thoughts and prayers as he waits to go through this procedure that it will succeed.

29 March 2010  Update No 5 on Norman Taylor I called Sylvia at home this afternoon, having been unable to reach Norman in the morning at the hospital.  I  discovered that Norman was discharged from hospital and was now at home.  Norman then came to the phone and expressed his relief at getting home for some rest.  He also expressed his gratitude to those who had said prayers, or telephoned or sent cards.  This is completion of just the first aspect of his treatment.  We will keep in touch to see how things progress.

28 March 2010  Update No 4 on Norman Taylor  I called Norman's wife, Sylvia, this morning and later Norman called me from hospital.  The news is that Norman could no be discharged , as hoped, because his urinary problem has not been solved.  Norman seemed quite resigned to the situation.  They have now connected another catheter and plan to remove it tonight, to see if Norman can yet pass urine naturally.  So we and poor Norman sit and await results and hope that all is well enough for Norman to return home tomorrow.

25 March 2010  Reminder Norma goes in for his operation Tomorrow

19 March 2010  Update 2 on Norman Taylor 27 March 2010  Update No.3 on Norman Taylor  Norman went into hospital early today.  By 0930 he was on his way down to the Theatre.  Norman had hoped he might even get home today.  However, although the operation went well and they destroyed the 'superfluous' tumour and introduced the new medication which should prevent recurrence, Norman later had extreme pain, as he was unable to pass urine.  This has been relieved by the insertion of a catheter, which Norman will have to wear for at least two weeks.  I got all this info from Norman himself, who called me from the hospital this evening, as I was out at an Anthonians' meeting in London today, representing Norman who would normally attend this event.  We now await the histology reports, so please keep Norman in your thoughts and prayers at this time.  He hopes that, with the catheter, he will get home tomorrow.

19 March 2010  Update No. 2 on Norman Taylor  Norman kindly called me after his visit to hospital today.  From the full information that Norman received, as to the procedure he will undergo next Friday, he is somewhat relieved.  He will undergo a kind of keyhole surgery where,  with a camera, they will endeavour to remove all of the tumor, which is on his bladder, and then via the same route introduce some new medication, which they are confident should prevent any re-growth.  The material removed will be sent for analysis in the Lab.   Norman is most appreciative of the contacts made and the prayers being offered.   Please keep up the thoughts and prayers, that all goes as Norman is confident it will go.

11 March 2010  Update No 1 on Norman Taylor  I have just heard from Norman that he is going to hospital for Pre-Med tests etc, on 19 March 2010 and will then be admitted to hospital for surgery on 26 March 2010 and expects to be in for a few days.  Please keep Norman and his wife Sylvia in your thoughts and prayers at this anxious time for them, that things might turn out much better than they may fear.

05 March 2010  Norman Taylor needs our thoughts and prayers

05 March 2010  On Wednesday Norman Taylor was at hospital for prostate investigation and sadly learned that he has two tumors.  He is awaiting histology results and understandably is somewhat anxious.  Would you kindly keep Norman in your thoughts and prayers that the results of the analysis will put Norman's mind at rest.  I'll update this information as soon as Norman lets me have it.
