A TRIBUTE TO A BLAISDON OLD BOY

Above a Tribute by Frank's Brother in Law

Frank you make us feel proud.  MAY YOU REST IN PEACE

John - Hello!

Yes: a really fine Tribute - well deserved. A great source of comfort and pride for the bereaved family. Thank you for posting it up on the Website.

EN got his book today safely. Just a brief message from him. He plans to give me feed-back in due course.

Best regards. TB

05 May 2009  UPDATE  Frank Smith RIP

I was able to speak with Frank's sister, Mary Keating, this morning.  She was so anxious to let everyone know how much love her brother had for the Salesians and what they did for him.  He always loved and remembered Don Bosco's Feast Day.  He always had a spot in his heart for Blaisdon and all that it meant to him.

He has made quite a big impact on his local community and Mary is mailing me today a copy of a local newspaper report on the wonderful community work that Frank did, including raising over one million pounds (£1million) for various charities.  I will publish this when I get it, with his photo on his page .We can all be very proud of this member of our Brotherhood and no doubt you will be happy to keep him, his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers, who will be buried tomorrow afternoon in Thatcham, Berkshire.

04 May 2009  I have just received further news of Frank Smith from Brother Joe Adams:

Dear John,

I phoned today a few times but I guess you are out visiting family. Whilst I was out yesterday our weekend cook took a phone message from Frank Smith's sister. Again in the message she tells the cook that he was at Blaisdon from 1946 - 1951, but that is neither here nor there. The funeral will be on Thursday, May 7 at 3.00 pm at:

Our Lady of the Assumption

Thatcham,

Berkshire.

Frank was 74 years old. She says that he loved his time at Blaisdon and the Feast of St John Bosco.

His sister's phone number is 01635 46954

26 April 2009  Charlie Springett just called me to say he had received a call from Brother Joe Adams SDB at Farnborough, telling him that Frank Smith 49/50, lately of Thatcham, Berks died last week.  Frank's daughter had called with the sad information.  We have no further details of   funeral arrangements, etc.  If I can get these I will add them to this item.

Meantime please keep Frank and his family in your thoughts and prayers at this difficult time for them.

The latest address that Charles, our President, had for Frank James Smith was:

6 Vincent Road, Thatcham, Berks, RG13 4QY
