CHRISSY COOKSON'S FATHER RIP Many of you will know of the Chrissy Cookson and the Ashcroft families. These are those wonderful people who have done so much, usually in the background, in the provision and preparation of our meals at many Blaisdon Reunions. In particular, at the amazing 70th Reunion meal at St Peter's in Gloucester. Also at our last reunion in August this year. These two related families have been coming to Blaisdon Reunions and to camping events for many years. They are a real part of the Blaisdon Brotherhood and we are proud to have them in it with us. Some of them were born in Blaisdon village when families lived in the village. Chrissy was married to Chris Cookson, an RAF Flying Officer who died and is buried in the Graveyard at St. Michael's in Blaisdon. His funeral was attended by the RAF with an RAF Bearer Party and Bugler and by many RAF Officers and other Personnel. A sensational mark of the event was a Fly Past Salute by an RAF Flight straight over St. Michael's Church. Father Sean officiated at the funeral and our President, Charles Springett represented the Blaisdon Old Boys. Now, sadly, we learn that Chrissy's Father died suddenly last week, whilst on holiday in Majorca, Spain. IN fact her late father, Trevor, and her Mother, Betty, attended our 70th Reunion in Gloucester and were also at our Mass this August Reunion.
Chrissy has had to fly out to Spain to be with her Mother and to make arrangements for her Father's body to be flown home. The body will be brought back to England next week, when the final burial arrangements will be made. The funeral is expected to take place, later next week, in Rugby where Chrissy's Mother lives. Our President Charles Springett and Father Sean hope to be able to represent the Blaisdon Old Boys in paying their/our last respects to this fine man and to offer support to Chrissy and the Ashcroft families.
Please all pray for the deceased Trevor and, most importantly, for the families who have lost a loved and important member of their families. "MAY TREVOR REST IN PEACE"
