Archbishop Bernard Longley - Former Chairman
The Catholic Children's Society (Westminster)
A good number of Blaisdon Old Boys, especially those who attend the annual Benefactors' Mass, for the Catholic Children's Society (Westminster), will know the new Archbishop of Birmingham, recently appointed by Pope Benedict XVI. Bishop Bernard made a point of always talking to the Crusade of Rescue Old boys/girls and generated a real warmth with us. He particularly wanted to retain and build in this link, that goes right back to the beginnings of what became The Catholic Children's Society (Westminster). Many of you will also know the recently retired CEO, Deacon Jim Richards, who often attends and enjoys our Reunions.
Bishop Bernard was Installed as Archbishop of Birmingham, on 08 December 2009, the Feast of The Immaculate Conception, at St Chad's Cathedral.
