Fr. Brian Jerstice SDB
In his thank you
letter from Tanzania, Father Brian kindly sent me a part of a Postcard,
harking right back to the earliest days at Blaisdon, shown below.
Note the Blaisdon Halt station name, mentioned by so many in their
Recollections:
I took the
opportunity to meet yesterday, 27 July 2006, with Father Brian, former
Rector of Blaisdon Hall, for lunch and to catch up on old times and
become up to date. It was a real pleasure to meet with Father
Brian who was coming to the end of his yearly recuperative break from
his work in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania.
He was so keen to
show me his photos of Liberia, as he expressed his gratitude for the
work of the GB Federation including Blaisdon, in sending much
support to a part of Africa he knows well. Also to show some photos of
the late Sean Devereux (RIP) who worked with Father Brian in Liberia.
We had an
excellent lunch together at the Edgemoor Inn, Stroud, which is close to
Moore Hall Convent, where Father Brian was relieving Father James Walsh
for his summer break. Moore Hall is the very place where Mgr Knox
stayed while he translated the Bible into English.

photos of his present home with the snow capped Mountain Kilimanjaro as
a backdrop, appearing to be just a short distance away.
