Memorial Recital for

Father Pat Kenna SDB

RIP

At a recent Assembly for Year 10 pupils at Salesian School Chertsey, Fr Joseph Brown SDB was presented with a cheque for £1,000 in support of the work of the Salesians in Sudan. This money was raised entirely as a result of the excellent initiative of Hamish Dustagheer, an outstanding musician in Year 10 who performed an organ recital in his local Parish Church. See Below.

Mr Lydon, Assistant Headteacher, introduced Fr Brown. He pointed out that, in the light of Fr Brown's outstanding contribution to the Salesian mission in Liberia, there was no more appropriate recipient of such a cheque. Fr Brown responded by speaking of the value of such missionary endeavour, reminding the pupils that in Sean Devereux they had a role model very close to home. He concluded by encouraging the students to reflect upon what Christian discipleship might mean for them in the future.

Note: On a previous occasion Fr Brown had been presented with a cheque for £1750 from the whole school at Chertsey to go towards Salesian missionary work in Sudan. The school traditionally divides money raised for charity during the year into three categories: local, national and international.

Young 14 year old Hamish Dustagheer, a Pupil from Salesian College Chertsey, gave an amazing and thrilling Organ Memorial Recital for the late Farther Pat at the beautiful Church of the Assumption in Englefield Green on Friday 29 June 2007 (Feast of Saints Peter & Paul).

This Recital was to raise funds for a charity that would be very close to the heart of Father Pat - to go to the Salesian work in the Sudan.
